Kenny Rogers, the former rapper and pop star who died in February, has been remembered as a loving father.
His wife and kids have been featured in songs by artists including Beyonce, Macklemore, and Snoop Dogg, while his music has been used in documentaries and books about the artist.
The music industry has been in mourning following the death of the iconic artist, who passed away at age 69 in March.
His son Kenny Rogers Jr. posted a message on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself and his son in a New York City park with the caption, “Kenny, the best dad ever.
We will always be together.
In a series of tweets from 2016, the father and son discussed their son’s music career and his family.
“He loved his family, his friends, his music,” the post read.
“Kerry was a godfather, we are all blessed with him.”
The post also said that the father said that he had lost count of the number of times he’d spoken with Kenny Rogers Sr. “We talked for hours on the phone and I don’t even know if I can count how many times we spoke,” the message read.
“We just got to say, Kenny was a beautiful man.
The way he took care of people, the way he was able to teach you a lesson and still be a human being,” the father wrote.
“I am so sorry to see him go.”
In 2017, the elder Rogers told The Hollywood Reporter that he would like to see his son perform again.
“The last time he did it was a big concert and then it was one of those concerts where he could do it.
I just don’t want to see that,” he said.
“If he’s going to do that, he should be able to play again.”
A Facebook page dedicated to the late Kenny Rogers has been created by fans and the public.
“Love you Kenny, your music is the best, we love you,” reads one post.
“Rest in peace, you will be missed, and we love our fans.”
The elder Rogers also wrote in a Facebook post that his son was a great man and a true friend.
“As we look back on the life of Kenny, we can only think about how lucky we are to have had him in our lives.
Kenny was the best of us.
We are so fortunate to have been his best friends and he is in our hearts.”
