If you haven’t heard of Brenda, you’re missing out on a gem.
The 19-year-old singer and songwriter is one of the youngest artists to ever make a name for herself on the dancefloor.
She’s one of only four female hip-hop artists to have a chart-topping hit with a song in 2016.
That was by far the most recent single, “Nude,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
And with a full album out in 2017, Brenda’s been working to prove that she can still pull off the hits she loves.
“I think the biggest thing that’s always made me feel like I’m a part of the community is the music,” Brenda told MTV News recently.
“So, when people see my song on the radio, they can relate to it.
I think that’s one thing that makes me feel comfortable.”
Brenda began singing professionally in 2014, working as a vocalist with rappers like DJ Quik, D.R.A.M. and G.O.
before signing to Atlantic Records.
She began to make her mark in the music industry after signing to the label in 2015, and released her debut album, Super Simple Songs, in 2016, which earned her a Grammy nomination.
She continued her music career with a number of smaller label deals in 2017.
The rapper is now releasing her first solo album, which debuted on the top 40 in the U.S. in 2017 and in 2018.
But even before her solo album was released, Brendas career was in full swing.
She toured with Drake, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and more, releasing her debut EP, What You Say.
She recorded the album in just a few weeks, and the next year, the album was signed to Atlantic.
Brenda has released several other albums and singles, including a song for Justin Bieber’s Justin Bieber 2.0 campaign, and in 2019, she dropped the hit single “Wanna Know,” which went to number one on the Hot 100 and climbed to No. 2 on the Alternative Songs chart.
She also released the song “What You Say” for Rihanna’s Rihanna: What Would You Say?
campaign in 2020.
The song went on to top the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a fourth consecutive week, reaching the top spot for the first time in her career.
Brendans next major label record was the soundtrack for the 2017 movie The Expendables 2, which she directed and starred in.
She then released the movie soundtrack for another movie, and this year, she released the soundtrack to the movie Deadpool 2.
Breeda has also appeared on stage, including for the cast of the upcoming Broadway musical Hamilton.
In addition to the films, Breeda also has a series of stage and screen appearances, including roles in the 2016 film The Dark Knight Rises and in the upcoming movie Jurassic World.
She was nominated for a Grammy Award for her song “Wannabe,” which is one song she’s known for since she was just a teenager.
“When I’m singing I’m trying to be a part, and that’s why I’ve always been singing,” she said.
“That’s why my first song ‘Wanna See Your Face’ is about me, and I know that because I’ve been seeing my face on the street.
I know the meaning behind that song.”
The song’s lyrics, which are inspired by her experience growing up in Miami, Florida, have a bittersweet ending that has helped to inspire the song to become a powerful anthem.
“My name is Brenda.
I was born in Miami and raised in New York City,” she explained.
“But I’m here now in Chicago and I’m in my first year of high school, and it’s really hard to get the words out because I know how much my voice means to people.”
In Brenda and her first year in Chicago, she’s been able to connect with young fans through concerts and performances.
“People really like the music and are excited to hear me sing,” she told MTV.
“It’s just an honor to be in this position to be able to sing for them and share it with the world.
I’m so proud of it.
But I’m also just thankful that I can sing for people and get that message across.”
Brenda’s music is also featured in the animated Disney series Zootopia, and her performance on the show has become a highlight for fans.
She plays a lioness named Belle who is working on her own musical career, which includes performing in a live rendition of “Sweet Caroline.”
“It was really cool to be an on-stage guest in a Disney movie and to be featured on Zooto,” Brendia said.
The show is a collaboration between Disney and Brenda that has become one of
