In the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, the Patriots’ offense and defense combined to score two touchdown passes to set up a 35-28 victory.
That came at the expense of the Patriots, who were outscored 21-7.
New England was also the only team to score four touchdowns.
The Patriots were able to get off to a fast start as well.
Quarterback Tom Brady led the Patriots to an 8-0 start, and he completed just eight of his 21 passes for 131 yards.
Brady finished the first half with a passer rating of 158.3, but he only had six sacks.
He also completed three of his four passes for 37 yards.
The Giants were able just four of their first 10 passes for just 28 yards.
Eli Manning completed all five of his passes for 117 yards.
He completed four of five passes for 76 yards, and threw two interceptions.
The only touchdown he threw came on a fourth-quarter pass to tight end Rob Gronkowski for a 16-yard touchdown.
Gronkowski completed a pair of deep throws to wide receiver Brandon LaFell for two touchdowns, and his two catches of 14 yards apiece also helped New England gain three first downs.
The game was the second time this season that the Patriots have been able to win a game on their home turf.
They won 27-14 over the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 23.
The Pats won a game in their home state on Nov. 5, 2017, with a 31-7 win over the Detroit Lions.
The win helped New York take a 1-0 lead in the AFC East.
In the second half, the Giants led 20-0 at halftime.
The first half was played in a dome, and it was rainy.
The rain continued throughout the second quarter.
The wind picked up again and the game was over at the half.
The weather conditions for Sunday’s home game were even better.
The temperature dropped to a cool 16 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius).
Weather stations around New York were reporting temperatures in the 20s.
The low temperature of just 10 degrees Fahrenheit was the lowest recorded for New York since March 2, 2015, when the weather dropped to 10 degrees.
